AGO and GODSENT have secured their spots in the Qi Invitational playoffs after finishing in the top two places of Group A.
The first team to book their spot in the tournament's playoffs was AGO, who kicked off the day with a narrow 16-14 victory over Imperial on Mirage. The Polish team then took on GODSENT, who had beaten 5POWER by a 16-13 scoreline, in the group winners' match, and assured themselves of a spot in the playoffs after beating the Swedes, 16-10, on Inferno.
Then, in the Group A elimination match, Imperial battled it out against 5POWER, who put a great fight on their map pick, Cache, although they ended up losing it 14-16. On Mirage, however, it was all about Imperial, who wrapped up the series with a crushing 16-1 win.
The group's decider began on Imperial's map pick, Train, with GODSENT bagging a 10-5 half-time lead as CTs. And although neither of the teams was able to close out the map in regulation, Imperial would not let their map pick slip away and finished things off in overtime, 19-17.
On Overpass and starting out as Terrorists, GODSENT picked up a dominant 12-3 score by half-time. That would prove to be a much-needed lead as Imperial came from the break with all guns blazing and managed to take the game to overtime in the second half. Despite Imperial's comeback, the Swedish side remained calm and collected to take the series to a third map after three overtimes, 25-23.
The decider map, Mirage, was yet another back-and-forth affair, with GODSENT once again coming out on top by half-time, this time around with a single round advantage. Nevertheless, the landscape of the series then changed drastically as Fredrik "freddieb" Buö's men refused to let Imperial take any control of the map in the second half, losing only one round and bringing the series to an end.
